3. Four performers create barely audible sounds with their bodies: through their breath, their hands, and their voices. There is no score, rather a book with written instructions, which the performers go through slowly during the performance. The performers are surrounded by radical loneliness - their sounds are almost only audible to themselves. In order to hear something, the audience must break into the nearness of the performer. Schichtung (Layering)—a collaboration between me and the Zafraan Ensemble—is an invitation to every audience member to become a part of the performance, in order to discover anew personal borders between distance and intimacy.
